More detailed information for potential crewmembers

BOAT

Boat is Sun Odyssey 36i (2011) named Frivola and it is anchored in Marina di San Vincenzo, Italy. Frivola is equipped with 3 cabins (one in front and two in the back, each for 2 persons). Bed linen is included. In saloon there is toilet with shower, gas cook with oven, cooling box. Another shower is outside in cockpit.

Rent starts on 21st of September (18:00) and we have to return boat to marina on 4th of October (18:00). We can stay one more night till 5th of October, but we should leave at at 8:00 in the morning latest.

ROUTE PLAN

Total sailing distance would be like 400Nm. First and last day we will sail from San Vincenzo to Corsica and vice versa. It is +- 55 Nm, which is about 11 - 13 hours of sailing.

Then we will sail around Corsica about 300 Nm either clockwise or anticlockwise which depends on weather forecast.

EVERYDAY LIFE ON BOAT

It would be similar to two weeks journey which we done in May ’24 from Salerno to Tuscany Islands and back. More details are ...here

Nice article for first time comers about life on the sailboat is on yachting.com ...here

TRACKING DEVICE

Skipper will bring with him Garmin inReach Mini 2 (gps, Galileo, QZSS). Crewmembers will be able to share boat position with families on-line.

WATCHES

We sail during day and night. So we have watches split between crew members. There is no need to have special training before aboard.

We will have plenty of time to explain what to do :-) Keep course, observe, fill logbook, check wind... Skipper will be most of the time around, either directly in cockpit or in saloon.

FOOD

Usually we eat / cook together. There is one crew member for each day as preparing food for whole crew.

On first day we will do big shopping in San Vincenzo. Therefore we will exchange in advance information what each crewmember can eat and must not to eat to avoid starving :-)

Food will be combination of our own cooking and going out to restaurants.

SEASICK

We will not be sailing during storms. But we will cross fingers to have windy weather for nice sailing. Sea could be wavy. If you are not sure about seasick, there are some pills for prevention or seafarers use to say, that lemon, gingerroot or drinking coke is also good.

CLOTHES

It is good to have with you some rain / wind resist clothing.

I guess it would be 50 to 50 with swimming depends on personal preferences with water temperature. This year we did 2 weeks sailing in Tyrrhenian Sea from Salerno to Tuscany Island and back and we swam with no hesitation.

Regarding shoes it is good to take some with light shoe sole to avoid colouring deck. Take head lamp with white and red light as well.

EXPENSES

We share expenses.

One part is 700,- EUR per crewmember which is covering rent of the boat, deposit insurance, transit log (3530 : 5 > 706). Tom (skipper) does do not participate on the boat expenses. Instead he brings with him gps tracking device, hand vhf, paper maps and pilots. And for sure he is responsible for whole trip.

Rough estimation for other expenses is 600,- EUR per person. It will come in place during trip and it would include fuel, marinas, tourist tax, food, enter to national park etc. Those other expenses are shared amongst all crew including skipper.

There is Corsica group in “Settle up” application so crewmembers can see expenses balance.

TRANSPORT

Transport from our homes to Salerno and back are not included in expenses.
